For parents, this journey is frightening and overwhelming. They are suddenly faced with unfamiliar procedures, medical language and constant worry.
Not all babies have the same chances. Babies from Black, Asian and socio economically deprived backgrounds are more likely to face worse outcomes, including higher rates of complications and infant mortality.
