Online fundraising

  • JustGiving and Virgin Money Giving are two of the most popular websites to use.
  • They are really quick to set up so you can start collecting donations straight away.
  • Include your story and photos to show your relation to the cause.
  • If it is personal your fundraising becomes more relatable.
  • Open your page early to give yourself the maximum amount of time to reach your target.
  • Set yourself a target to encourage those donations and get a huge sense of satisfaction when you reach it.
  • Approach the person you think will sponsor you the most first to set a precedent.
  • Use JustGiving text codes if using their service for your fundraising. Easy to set up and easy to use.
  • Talking about it! Share with family, friends and colleagues and add to your email signature.

Contact your local newspaper and radio station

Appearing in your local paper is a great way to reach people you don’t know. Not only can it help you get more donations, it also raises awareness about Bliss and what we do.

Remember to:

  • Research your area – find out what local newspapers, magazines and radio stations write about what is happening where you live.
  • Call local media to find out who covers local events or charity fundraising. If you are having an event, invite them to come along. Tell them your story – they’ll be interested in why you are fundraising.
  • Write a press release and send it out to your local media. Journalists might not always have time to talk to you on the phone so sending them a press release can often be an easier option for them.

To find out more about how to write a press release and how to take good photos for media use, download our Bliss Fundraising Press Pack.
