What is this booklet?
'About neonatal care' or 'ANC' is our support booklet for parents to help them through the early days on a neonatal unit. It provides lots of information about what neonatal care is and what they can expect from their family's time on the unit.
It also contains loads of practical tips for how parents can be as involved as possible in their baby's care and how they can look after themselves and each other during these difficult times.
ANC is sent on a quarterly basis to every neonatal unit in the UK and is often used by unit staff to help welcome parents onto their units and help them get to grips with their baby's care.
What would we like from you?
We'd like you to take a look at our first design draft of the new booklet and let us know what you think. Reviewing this draft should take a lot less time than the last one - we believe this should take around 30 minutes to read, and around 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
There is loads of new information in there that was suggested by this group in the first round of feedback, which we hope is helpful. There are also a couple of new sections which have been underlined in green, and we’re particularly interested in feedback on those.
The most highly requested new feature from the initial questionnaire was a ‘quick guide’ which we have created but haven’t yet received funding for. The pre-design draft of that is available to download through the link at the bottom of this page, and it would be great to get some feedback on that as well.
How does this work?
We ask for parents to provide as much of your feedback as possible using the form below. This is so we can demonstrate our information production process for our accreditation with the Patient Information Forum. We recommend that you read through the form before reading the draft guidance.

Depending on what kind of PDF reader you have, you might also be able to add comments directly to the document if there is anything specific you would like to point out. If you can't do this, you can add any other comments at the end of the questionnaire and let us know where in the document you are referring to.

What happens next?
Once we have worked through your feedback, we will create the final design draft that will go into production next year.
