There are lots of things that you can do to help raise as much money as possible from your fundraising. Here are our top tips for online fundraising and using social and local media to help promote what you are doing to help babies born premature or sick across the UK.

Set up an online fundraising page

JustGiving is a great website to use. It is really quick to set up so you can start collecting donations straight away.

Remember to:

  • Include your story and photos to show why the cause is important to you.
  • Open your page early to give yourself the maximum amount of time to reach your target.
  • Set yourself a target to encourage donations.
  • Approach people you think will sponsor you to help make it more personal.

Use social media to promote your fundraiser

Reaching out to people on social media is a great way to promote your event and boost donations.

Remember to:

  • Tag us in your Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts @BlissCharity
  • Use photographs and videos to tell your story and engage your followers.
  • Tag other people to spread your message as far as you can.

Contact your local newspaper and radio station

Appearing in your local paper is a great way to reach people you don’t know. Not only can it help you get more donations, it also raises awareness about Bliss and what we do.

Remember to:

  • Research your area – find out what local newspapers, magazines and radio stations write about what is happening where you live.
  • Call local media to find out who covers local events or charity fundraising. If you are having an event, invite them to come along. Tell them your story – they’ll be interested in why you are fundraising.
  • Write a press release and send it out to your local media. Journalists might not always have time to talk to you on the phone so sending them a press release can often be an easier option for them.
