Partnership work

Bliss is proud to work in partnership with a number of organisations to ensure every baby has the best chance of surival and quality of life.

Pregnancy & Baby Charities Network

Bliss is proud to be a member of the Pregnancy & Baby Charities Network, a group of UK charities working together with a shared purpose to:

  • Reduce the number of babies who die during pregnancy, birth or in the early weeks of life
  • Reduce morbidity in newborn babies and improve care for these babies and their parents
  • Improve care throughout the path to parenthood; before, during and after pregnancy and after losing a baby or pregnancy

We work together to influence national policy in all four UK Governments, as well as to influence and work with the NHS across the UK. We do this to improve care for parents and babies nationally, and to reduce inequalities in outcomes.

We have developed a manifesto, which sets out our three priorities for action:

  1. Make the UK the safest place in the world to have a baby, regardless of ethnicity, income or circumstances.
  2. Give sick and premature babies the best chance of survival and quality of life
  3. Provide every family with the bereavement care they need after pregnancy and baby loss

Baby Loss Awareness Week

Bliss is one of over 60 charities from across the UK who collaborate during Baby Loss Awareness Week, which takes place every year from 9 to 15 October.

Baby Loss Awareness Week exists to raise awareness of the key issues affecting those who have experienced pregnancy loss or baby death in the UK.

2018 marked the year that the National Bereavement Care Pathway (NBCP), a ground-breaking set to transform bereavement care for thousands of families each year, was rolled-out nationwide. We called on all NHS Trusts and Health Boards to commit to following the programme in order to improve bereavement care for anyone effected by pregnancy and baby loss.
