Ben's story

''I started campaigning for Bliss after watching a documentary discussing premature babies born at 23 weeks, the depressing conclusion of which was that perhaps it isn't always worth it. As a 23-weeker myself, now feeling lucky to exist, I wanted to help however possible.

"During my time campaigning, I’ve attended lobbying events in the Houses of Parliament and liaised with my local NHS Trust on nursing cuts, derogation plans and local issues surrounding transport and transferring of babies. Most recently I organised a visit to my local unit with my MP, Esther McVey, who is also a minister. This is my major success so far; campaigning is all about forging a solid working relationship with your local MP!

"To anyone thinking of campaigning, I would say 'go for it!' It's not always easy, but it is great fun, you meet inspiring people and you really can make a difference.''
