It has been reported in the media today that 12 babies have tested positive to a bacterial infection in a neonatal unit in Cardiff.

The news of these infections and the closure of the neonatal unit is very worrying for the families involved and babies needing specialist treatment in Cardiff. This situation highlights the extreme vulnerability of special care babies and also the need for an environment where health professionals can deliver the best care to these babies.
