And The Winner Is Hero

Thank you to everyone who voted for our 'Making a Difference as voted by the public' award. The award will be presented to the winner on 29 May at our Thank you event at City Hall in London.

Huge congratulations to Alex Vere who you have voted to win our 'Making a difference as voted by the public' award.

All three nominees are extremely deserviing winners but you have voted and we're thrilled for Alex to win.

She'll be presented with her award on 29 May, at this year’s Bliss Thank You event in City Hall, London, where we will be acknowledging the incredible support of those parents, volunteers, fundraisers, donors, campaigners, corporate partners and health care professionals who went the extra mile to contribute to our work in 2014. Without the contribution of these people and so many others we would be unable to continue supporting babies born premature or sick and their families around the UK.

Alex Vere

Alex is one of our top fundraisers from 2014. Not content just with running the Great North Run, she also organised an incredible fundraising ball in memory of her daughter, Matilda Vere. With a James Bond theme, Bond for Bliss - held at the Crown Hotel in Harrogate in October last year - dazzled and amazed those present with live entertainment, dinner, an auction and the chance to see the Aston Martin from the film ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’.

The event raised an amazing £49k - £26k for Bliss, £13k to help purchase a new ventilation machine for the special care baby unit in Harrogate Hospital and £10k for a range of other children’s charities
