Go the Distance for Bliss

Challenge yourself to walk, run or cycle 27 or 100 miles by taking on our virtual challenge.

What is Go the Distance?

On average parents travel 27 miles to visit their baby in neonatal care with some families travelling up to 100 miles.

Go the Distance is a 27 or 100 mile challenge that you get to choose when, where and how you complete.

You could...

  • Commit to doing couch to 5k
  • Cycle 100 miles over a month
  • Take your baby in their buggy out for a run
  • Get the kids on their bikes or scooters whilst you run
  • Go for longer walks or runs with your dog

By sponsoring you for every mile covered, your friends and family will help you to go the distance whilst raising money to support babies born premature or sick.

Thank you to all our Team Bliss runners, walkers, cyclists, swimmers, rowers & scooters who went the distance for Bliss in 2020.

Go the Distance for Bliss will be back later this year.

The freedom you have to choose every part of this event allows you to tailor it to suit your life. It was still a challenge, but it was nice to be able to pick my own challenge.

Choose your challenge, time and distance

It’s a virtual challenge, so you can take part at any time during the summer months. In the morning before you start your day, over a weekend, or during your lunch breaks – you decide!

Let us know what you plan your start date and finish date to be so our fundraising can support you in your challenge.

The sense of achievement you feel at the end is amazing, and all while knowing you've played your part in raising vital funds for supporting babies and families in NICU.

How do we help parents who are separated from their baby?

Babies have the very best outcomes if their parents are able to be actively involved in their care.

- We're campaigning for the Government to introduce financial support for families with a baby in neonatal care, free parking at hospitals, and for parents suspected of having COVID-19 to be prioritised for testing to minimise separation from their baby.

- Through our Parents are not Visitors campaign, we are urging hospitals to review their visiting policies and have already seen some network-wide policy changes as a result.

- Our email and video support services provide families with somewhere to turn for practical information and emotional support.

It's a great event, with loads of support from Bliss and other fundraisers.
