In 2016/17
- Our open letter to NHS England, signed by over 3,700 people (including over 500 doctors, nurses and health professionals), demanded more investment into neonatal services from the government
- We published four new reports looking at neonatal care in Wales and Scotland, at neonatal transport services across the UK, and families being kept apart on units in England
- Since the launch of the Wales report, in which we called for increased investment in recruitment for neonatal nursing, nurse staffing numbers in Wales for 2017 show an increase in child nursing spaces from 100 to 140
- Since the launch of our 'Families Kept Apart' report our campaigners have contacted their local hospitals and MPs about unit accommodation and facilities. We expect to see significant changes in the provision for families in the coming year as a result
Our campaigns are focusing on ensuring that neonatal units and networks are resourced, staffed and supported effectively, and that parents are properly supported to care for their babies.
