Trustee Recruitment - Treasurer

Would you like to make a difference to the lives of some of the UK’s most vulnerable babies and their families?

About Us

Bliss is the UK’s leading charity for premature and sick babies: our vision is that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Since our foundation by parents in 1979 we have grown to a charity of in the region of £2 million, working across the UK to deliver our mission by empowering families, influencing policy and practice, and enabling life-changing research.

The Role

We are recruiting a new Treasurer to join our passionate and committed Board, to support the charity’s governance and overall strategic direction. This is a vital role providing both key financial skills and assurance of financial matters and related risks to the Board. The Treasurer will join the Chair and Vice-Chair as an Officer of the Board, with the authority to make ongoing business decisions when called upon between Board meetings.

About You

Applicants for the role of Treasurer must have financial and accounting qualifications or demonstrable equivalent experience, sound financial judgement and some knowledge and, ideally, experience of charity finance and fundraising.

In addition, every Bliss Trustee must have a commitment to the aims of the charity, an understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship, and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to their role as a Trustee.

Why apply?

As a trustee you will join the charity at a critical time as we have recently launched our new three-year strategy, in our 40th anniversary year. There is so much more to do for sick and tiny babies in the UK and to provide much needed emotional and practical help for their families – one in seven babies in the UK needs specialist support after birth. Bliss is passionately committed to ensuring that all babies and their families have the best possible care wherever they are born. Join us to help us make a difference!

We really value the diversity of ideas and skills that Trustees can bring, and welcome applications that can help us reflect this on our Board.

Applications are by CV and covering letter to be submitted by 9am on 1st of February 2020.
