Sing carols for Bliss this Christmas

Anyone can sing for Bliss this Christmas, whether you are a member of a choir or if you simply want to share the Christmas spirit. Wrap up warm and grab a Bliss collection tin… Here are just a few ways you can get involved.

1) Sing carols in your town
You may need to seek permission from local authorities if you plan to fundraise in a public place. Please make sure you check this before organising an event. If your town has a Christmas tree or a Christmas lights event you can explore the possibilities of performing with your choir or friends and family at this event. If you live near a busy train or bus station you can also seek permission to sing for commuters. It’s also a good idea to consider what time of day you will be carolling – people are often more generous on their way home. Make sure you choose a time when you know there will be lots of people around.

2) Include a collection for Bliss at your annual carol concert
Whether your concert is at a Church, a school or another community gathering you can support Bliss without doing much to change the logistics of the day. Schedule in a charity collection during one of the carols or collect donations from attendees on their way out at the end of the concert. You will need to think about having a volunteer or two to help you collect these donations.

3) Plan your own Christmas Carol concert
If there isn’t a Christmas carol concert locally, you could consider planning and running your own event. If you are part of a choir or know someone who is this will help. Find a venue and a choir or musical entertainment and build your event around your fundraising. You can charge for entry, refreshments or ask for general donations. Schools and children’s groups such as guides or scouts might be happy to get involved with this too.

Applying for collection tins
We can provide you with Bliss collection tins to use at your event. We have some key rules that you must follow when using the tins, particularly when it comes to counting the donations. Contact the events team to be sent your collection tin application form. Please return it to chelsieb@bliss.org.uk or Bliss, 2nd Floor, Chapter House, 18-20 Crucifix Lane, London, SE1 3JW.

Paying in your donations
All money raised can be paid in to Bliss via cheque (made payable to ‘Bliss’) or via our website here. Please use the reference option to let us know what you did to raise the money.

Tracey, who held a few carol singing events in 2015, says “Singing carols at Christmas is a nice way of raising much needed funds for a great cause. It is so nice to be able to get together with friends and family and spread the festive cheer”.
