Legacies
Special care babies need your will to survive.
Leaving a gift to Bliss after your death is a wonderful way to ensure we can continue with our work in improving the chances of survival and long-term quality of life for thousands of premature and sick babies.
We know that the vital care that premature and sick babies receive after birth can have a profound impact on the rest of their lives.
-
Through our campaigning work we champion the care of our most vulnerable babies.
-
Through our ground-breaking clinical research projects and education programmes, we work with health professionals across the UK to ensure babies receive the best possible care regardless of when and where they are born.
-
Through our Family Support Services we offer practical advice and emotional support to thousands of families of special care babies during an extremely difficult time.
As the number of babies born needing special care is rising, we need to ensure that we are here and able to continue this work for many years to come. A gift in your will, however large or small, would make an enormous difference to the lives of many vulnerable babies and their families.
There are different ways of leaving a gift in your will
• A pecuniary legacy is a gift of a fixed sum of money. There is no minimum amount that can be left
• A residuary legacy is a gift of the whole or a share of whatever remains of your estate after all other gifts have been distributed to family and friends and any debts paid off
• A specific gift is a tangible item such as a house, piece of jewellery or car
Writing your Will
We would advise anyone who wants to make a Will, or amend an existing one, to see a solicitor.
If you have already made a Will you can still help Bliss by adding a codicil to your Will (an official alteration document). We recommend that you seek legal advice before adding a codicil to your Will.
