Understanding equipment

Neonatal units are full of equipment that you may have not seen before. This equipment is there to help your baby and provide them with the best possible chance of survival and a healthy future.

The following pages contain information on some of the most common equipment that you may see in the neonatal unit. Use the navigation bar for more information.

All parents feel anxious especially when they first see their baby in the neonatal unit. If you are unsure, please ask the staff to explain why the equipment is being used.
