For the past five years Bliss have produced a report looking into the issues surrounding neonatal care in the UK. We are currently gathering information for this year's report and need your help. We would like as many parents from all four corners of the UK to tell us about their experiences of neonatal care in this survey. It has 30 questions and will take a maximum of 15 minutes to complete. Plus, if you wouldn’t mind us calling you or meeting with you for more information please let us know at the end of the survey and you could feature in our 2010 Baby Report and attend its launch in the House of Commons.

Bliss launched its 30th birthday baby report, Three decades and counting, which looks back over 30 years of Bliss and neonatal care on 4 November 2009.

One of the key findings of the report was that, although there have been numerous government reports published over the last 30 years recommending better services for sick and premature babies, not one has ever been fully implemented.

For 30 years Bliss has made the same arguments for better services time and time again yet neonatal services are still overstretched and understaffed. With the birth-rate rising, rates of premature birth increasing and more babies being born early surviving, more babies will need special care. This means further pressure will be placed on doctors and nurses and so they must be given the resources to cope.

To accompany our 30th birthday Baby Report we have produced a set of briefings on neonatal care in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. 

With all the government initiatives that are being introduced across the UK, Bliss is hoping that after 30 years of campaigning, 2010 will mark a change in the fortunes for premature and sick babies.
