Bliss is the UK’s leading charity for premature and sick babies: our vision is that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Since our foundation by parents in 1979 we have grown to a charity of over £2.5 million, working across the UK to deliver our mission by empowering families, influencing policy and practice, and enabling life-changing research.
We are looking for a proactive Media Relations Officer to provide effective media and PR support to raise Bliss’ profile. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of working in a busy press office, with a good eye for a story.
The ideal candidate will be confident selling-in stories to the press as well as speaking to, and briefing, case study media volunteers and Bliss spokespeople for appearances. They will be securing press coverage for a wide variety of Bliss’ work, including policy and research reports, fundraising events and awareness campaigns. They will also have knowledge of utilising social media channels to amplify press coverage.
We are looking for a candidate who can monitor the news cycle, handle reactive requests for information and share relevant news stories with teams across Bliss. They should have a good news sense with strong written communications skills.
