One in every seven babies is born premature or sick in Scotland each year – and their parents have to find, on average, an extra £218 for every week their baby is in neonatal care.
We received over 1,300 responses to our 2013 survey, 85 of them were parents from Scotland. Our findings show:
- Scottish parents are spending £74 per week on travel alone.
- 11 out of 14 hospitals can offer parents some accommodation.
- Parents spend £61 a week just on food and drink.
- Only one hospital provides parents with free meals.

You can get involved right now by emailing your MSP and letting them know why this issue isn't a game.
Following our launch in Scotland earlier in 2014, MSP Cara Hilton put forward a motion calling for the Scottish Government to acknowledge our findings and commit to meeting our recommendations.
