It's not a game in Scotland

One in every seven babies is born premature or sick in Scotland each year – and their parents have to find, on average, an extra £218 for every week their baby is in neonatal care.

We received over 1,300 responses to our 2013 survey, 85 of them were parents from Scotland. Our findings show:

  • Scottish parents are spending £74 per week on travel alone.
  • 11 out of 14 hospitals can offer parents some accommodation.
  • Parents spend £61 a week just on food and drink.
  • Only one hospital provides parents with free meals.

You can now download our report to read our full results and recommendations for the Scottish Government and NHS.

You can get involved right now by emailing your MSP and letting them know why this issue isn't a game.

Campaign news

Following our launch in Scotland earlier in 2014, MSP Cara Hilton put forward a motion calling for the Scottish Government to acknowledge our findings and commit to meeting our recommendations.
