Good facilities can really help make families and staff feel at home on the unit, and help provide a supportive, comforting atmosphere. Here are some ways units across the country have improved their facilities:
Neonatal Unit, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath
By creating links with a local secondary school, Princess Royal neonatal unit have worked with the GCSE photography classes to put examples of their work up on the walls. These are regularly changed, to create an interesting and less clinical-looking environment.
Several units have also applied for a Bliss Baby Charter Grant Fund for up to £10,000, to help improve their family facilities.
