Sunday 13 April was the Virgin London Marathon, the World’s most famous long-distance running event. Bliss had 95 runners taking part for us, to raise money to help us continue supporting premature and sick babies and their families around the UK.
The funds raised by the Team Bliss runners will help us fund our Bliss Nurse programme, providing nurses who are focused solely on supporting the families of premature and sick babies. The Bliss Nurses can help families to cope with the stress and anxiety of having a baby in special care. Our first Bliss Nurse started in June 2011 and it is our aim to have at least 28 Bliss Nurses in post by 2020.
All of us here at Bliss would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who ran for us. A huge well done to all of you and thank you for your hard work and dedication. It was a pleasure to meet so many of you, and also to cheer you along the way. We hope you enjoyed the day.
If you’ve been inspired by this year’s marathon, we will be recruiting for next year’s event in May.
