New guidelines for palliative care

19 February 2014

The goal of all neonatal medicine is to return babies to health, but despite the leaps neonatal care has made, a cure for all babies is unfortunately not always possible. Bliss believes that for babies with life-limiting conditions providing palliative or end of life care that puts them and their families first is paramount.

New guidelines published by Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation, which are the first of their kind, aim to do just that. These guidelines support health care staff caring for young babies with life limiting conditions who need palliative or end of life care.

Babies facing life limiting conditions and their families deserve the best possible care, delivered by a staff with an understanding of how to support families through this incredibly difficult time; allowing parents to focus on being the best parents they can be for their child during the time they have.

Bliss is proud to have been one of the charities involved in the guidelines’ production.
