New Bliss nurse appointed

26 September 2014

Bliss is delighted to announce the appointment of the fifth Bliss Nurse, Sandra Brown.

Sandra, who is based in the Jessop Wing in Sheffield, has taken up her role with a great deal of experience and enthusiasm. She is a qualified Senior Sister nurse with a BSc in Child Healthcare and was previously a co-ordinator in a high dependency unit. She has also led initiatives that have allowed parents to spend more quality time with their baby, promoting longer periods of skin-to-skin contact.

“When the role of the Bliss Nurse was advertised I jumped at the chance as I have a great passion for helping families. As a Bliss Nurse I can now dedicate my time that’s needed to helping families most in need of support.

“The role will allow me to work closely with staff on the unit to enable us to adopt new ways of thinking, working and communicating with parents to make their experience on the unit a time to look back at positively with good memories. I want the Jessop Wing to become the best family-centered care unit in the country.”

Sandra joins the four other Bliss Nurses who work tirelessly to provide practical and emotional support directly to families, to help them through one of the most difficult times in their life. Bliss would like to have 28 nurses by the year 2020, one in each region, but this relies heavily on donations.
