Over £6,000 was raised recently at a fundraising ball held by Bliss Leeds volunteer Helen Jackson.
The Bollywood themed event was held on Friday November 14 in celebration of World Prematurity Day. Guests were treated to an Indian banquet, live entertainment and a disco.
Speaking of the event Helen said, “Last year I organised a music event for Bliss to coincide with World Prematurity Day and wanted to do something this year too. I’ve always wanted to organise a Ball but wanted it to be more a ‘party’ feel and not too formal. Whist researching various options The Bollywood theme stood out, it was so much fun, vibrant and colourful.
“It was great fun organising everything and keeping within the theme and culture. I had the help of another Bliss Volunteer Sarah Ramsden, who worked really hard collecting raffle and auction prizes, I can’t thank her enough.”
The event raised an amazing £6,105.60 in total, which will be split between Bliss and the Leeds Neonatal Units, and Helen is already thinking about next year, “Sarah and I will definitely be making this a yearly event and would love the whole of Bliss Yorkshire to get behind us and make next year’s Awareness Ball another huge success. We’re already thinking of ideas!
“A massive thank you to our sponsors and Raj Parmer from Sunrise Radio, Yorkshire who hosted the event and brought his fantastic dancers from Spice Entertainment, Bradford.”
