Friday 9 October marks the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week, a time for those whose lives have been touched by the death of a baby to acknowledge and remember their loss. Bliss is joining other baby charities to help raise awareness of the emotional impact of pregnancy and infant loss, and the scale of the tragedy, which affects up to one in five families in the UK.
Throughout the week bereaved parents and their families will be sharing examples of something that someone said or did that helped them after their baby died. They will be sharing these moments via social media using the hashtag #babyloss to give those supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby more confidence in doing so.
The week closes on Thursday 15 October with the global ‘Wave of Light’, where candles are to be lit around the world as part of the international Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
The event encourages those taking part to light a candle from 7pm and leave it burning for at least one hour. They will be posting images of their candles with the hashtag #waveoflight, to unite with other across the globe to honour those babies who lit up their lives for such a short time.
If you would like a lasting and positive way to remember your loved one this Baby Loss Awareness Week, Bliss can offer Precious Star Funds. This is a personalised tribute fund which you can choose to donate however much you like, and will be there for as long as you want it.
If you already have a Precious Star Fund, why not light a candle on your memorial page and join the ‘Wave of Light.’
