Season of Support
This Mother's Day, donate to our Season of Support appeal and help babies all year round
Bliss volunteers provide crucial support to families. They offer comfort, reassurance and, most importantly, the vital information parents need to look after their poorly baby when they are in hospital.
But all too often, we hear that mothers are left without the support they need. 'Guilty', 'isolated', 'alone', and 'overwhelmed' are just some of the words mums use to describe the way they feel when their baby is in hospital. This, when they should be feeling 'informed' 'empowered' 'supported' and 'confident' to take care of their vulnerable baby, who needs them more than ever.
Will you help us make sure every parent has the opportunity to access this vital support if they need it?

Why we need your support
Research shows that when parents are supported and empowered to get involved in their baby's care while they are in hospital, their babies have a better chance of survival and quality of life. Bliss believes every baby deserves this.
There are almost 200 neonatal units across the UK, and at the time of this appeal Bliss volunteers are only available in 55 of these when they should be in all of them.
Over the next three months, we will need your support to help us recruit, train and support more Bliss volunteers as part of our Season of Support.
Our volunteers are on the frontline in neonatal units across the country, working side by side with nurses and doctors to make parents' journey through neonatal care that little bit easier to manage, and to make sure premature and sick babies have a fighting chance.
One of our volunteers, Georgia Melbourne, became a Bliss volunteer following her own experiences as a first time mum on a unit:
It wasn't until Georgia got information from Bliss that she said "all of a sudden I wasn't alone any more."
Since her experience, Georgia has become a Bliss volunteer herself and is passionate about making sure mums like her get the support and information they need; so that babies like her daughter Scarlett get the best care.
With your donation, we will be able to recruit, train and support more volunteers. In turn, our volunteers will help concerned parents with quality information and specialist emotional support, and most importantly provide poorly babies with a better start in life.
By April 2018 we want to double the number of Bliss volunteers in units. We can't do this without your help.
Help us give mums and their babies the best possible support all year round by donating to our Season of Support appeal by any of the methods above.
